McLeod said, \u201cI don\u2019t see it being used, and in six months, we should set a meeting with DDOT to have them change the striping.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial;color:rgba(0,0,0,0.87);margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black\">Striping is the paint on the road used to create crosswalks, bike lanes, and car lanes.\u00a0 \u201cIf this redesign of 17th\u00a0is not working, the old stripes should be ground off the tarmac and the road should be restriped for a more traditional use,\u201d McLeod said.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial;color:rgba(0,0,0,0.87);margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black\">Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets\u00a0is a coalition of retail interests for mutual benefit and includes the shops on 17th\u00a0St.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial;color:rgba(0,0,0,0.87);margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black\">McLeod said that while he\u2019d always been a biking supporter, many big cities are removing their bike lanes, especially London and Amsterdam.\u00a0 DC should adjust the number of bike lanes to what is needed.\u00a0 \u201cIf DDOT puts a bike lane on every street, and most are not used, then most should come out,\u201d McLeod explained.\u00a0 The only bike lanes that should remain are the ones heavily used, which is happening in London and Amsterdam at this time, he said.\u00a0The 15th\u00a0Street bike lanes are heavily used, but the 14th\u00a0Street bike lane and the 17th\u00a0Street bike lanes are not.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial;color:rgba(0,0,0,0.87);margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\",serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:black\">This meeting marks the second held by DCCA on the 17th\u00a0St. Bike Plan and its impact on commerce and the community. DCCA has provided a forum for discussing what has been called \u2018an existential threat\u2019 to the community \u2013 a forum the city has failed to provide.
