Mayor Fails to Publish Past Year&#39;s Affordable Housing Data; <i>Annual Housing Report Required by Law<\/i><\/font><\/h2>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><b>Washington, DC<\/b> \u2014 The DC Mayor is <a href=\"https:\/\/code.dccouncil.gov\/us\/dc\/council\/code\/sections\/6-1041.09\" target=\"_blank\"> legally required to publish<\/a> DC\u2019s annual \u201caffordability\u201d report on the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) <a href=\"https:\/\/dhcd.dc.gov\/page\/iz-and-adu-forms-and-resources\" target=\"_blank\"> website<\/a>.\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><b><i>This year\u2019s affordability report is now five months overdue.<\/i><\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<p> <font size=\"4\">Since July, staff from the DC Council Committee on Housing have been  pressing DHCD for this year&#39;s affordability report\u2019s release, but to  date, no timeline or otherwise response as to why it&#39;s delayed has been  provided.<\/font><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><u>The annual affordability report is a critical public document as it includes:<\/u><\/font><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><font size=\"4\">The number of &#8220;affordable&#8221; Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) units built in the past year and since the program\u2019s inception.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font size=\"4\">The  current Area Median Income (AMI) or functionally equivalent Median  Family Income (MFI), which is used to determine eligibility for all DC  affordable housing programs.<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><b>As of April 2024, DC\u2019s AMI for a family of four was $154,700 (<a href=\"https:\/\/dhcd.dc.gov\/node\/1669746\" target=\"_blank\">DHCD  website<\/a>).<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\">AMI\/MFI directly dictates who qualifies for affordable housing and what level of affordability developers must provide.\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\">Late last year, the independent <a href=\"https:\/\/savedcpublicland.org\/the1617project\/2024\/12\/12\/independent-dc-auditor-report-on-inclusionary-zoning-key-highlights-citations-w-pdf\/\" target=\"_blank\"> DC Auditor released a comprehensive evaluation of the IZ program<\/a>,  revealing statistics showing the 15-year-old program is failing to  address the city\u2019s affordability crisis\u2014and may even be worsening it.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\">###<\/font><\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Press Alert\u00a0DC for Reasonable Development,\u00a0Contact Chris Otten, 202-810-2768 August 11, 2025 D.C.
