Ward 8 ANC’s have recently reacted to the proposed changes to the DC Comprehensive Plan.  ANC 8C just passed a resolution, in part says<\/a>: <\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
RESOLVED THAT ANC 8C<\/span><\/span> urges with the Commission\u2019s \u201cgreat weight\u201d that the Office of Planning demonstrate, in accordance with DC Code \u00a71-306.04(d) (2020) (Preserving and ensuring community input) and regulations 10A DCMR \u00a7\u00a7 2515.2, 2515.3 (2020), that the agency perform the required environmental assessment of the proposed amendments and demonstrate that the proposed changes are required and justified by providing the supporting information required by the regulations, including for the map changes (of millions of square feet of up zoning citywide). These showings will enable DC Council and the public to assess whether the sweeping changes are justified to improve the quality of life of District residents.<\/span><\/b><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

WARD ONE RESIDENTS ASK BRIANNE NADEAU TO RESCIND HER LAST MINUTE CHANGES TO THE PLANNING MAPS<\/b><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

Seventy Ward 1 residents have sent a letter to the City Council and their Councilmember<\/a>, Brianne Nadeau, asking her to rescind proposed changes to the Comp Plan maps that will permanently affect Ward 1 neighborhoods, like Adams Morgan. 
\n<\/b><\/font><\/div>\n

These proposed changes are a complete surprise in their late announcement and are not accompanied by any efficacy reporting or planning impact studies.<\/p>\n

<\/b><\/font>We … want to see and participate in updated small area planning to examine any harms the additional population growth may have on existing neighborhood services like our schools, libraries, clinics, our existing transportation systems, the environment, and to see how we can eliminate, or at least mitigate, the obvious displacement pressures that come with development.<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At a recent ANC meeting, Nadeau unveiled for the first time upzoning proposals that would move the development needle along Columbia Road from moderate to medium density<\/a>.  There were about 20 people, including ANC Commissioners, in attendance. Adams Morgan consists of about 15,000 residents, the vast majority who don’t even know these substantial changes are being proposed.<\/b><\/font><\/div>\n
