{"id":621,"date":"2021-05-03T20:48:32","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T20:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dcfeedback.com\/fit2print\/?p=621"},"modified":"2021-05-06T01:30:33","modified_gmt":"2021-05-06T01:30:33","slug":"pr-nadeaus-changes-to-the-dc-comp-plan-resurrects-redlining-of-the-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.dcfeedback.com\/fit2print\/dc\/621","title":{"rendered":"PR: Nadeau&#8217;s Changes to the DC Comp Plan Resurrects Redlining of the Past"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><font size=\"1\">Press Alert: Adams Morgan for Reasonable Development<br \/><a href=\"mailto:admo4rd@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"mailto:admo4rd@gmail.com\" >admo4rd@gmail.com<\/a><\/a><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"6\"><b>Councilmember Brianne Nadeau&#39;s Changes to the DC Comp Plan Resurrects Redlining of the Past \u2013 <i>Proposed Upzoning Benefits Wealthy White Landowners With No Impact Studies<\/i><\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<p><b>Washington, DC<\/b> \u2013 In mid-March 2021, at a lightly attended ANC-1C committee meeting, Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau&#39;s staff introduced for the first time a proposal to upzone parts of the Ward One Adams Morgan neighborhood (these changes have not been mentioned again publicly). <\/p>\n<p>According to analysis of the proposal, Nadeau\u2019s push results in &#8220;the unlocking&#8221; of approximately $500M dollars of land value\/air rights along Columbia Road, NW, that will benefit about ten wealthy white men who own the land there now.<\/p>\n<div>Images produced during a recent community discussion show that Nadeau&#39;s upzoning proposal falls along the same redline maps of the late 60&#39;s and earlier.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dcfeedback.com\/fit2print\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/admo_covenants_map.png\" alt=\"admo_covenants_map.png\" width=\"444\" height=\"442\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dcfeedback.com\/fit2print\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/admo_upflum_proposed.png\" alt=\"admo_upflum_proposed.png\" width=\"442\" height=\"408\"><\/p><\/div>\n<div>The proposed  upFLUMing is on the north side of Columbia Road tracking the exact redline of old, resurrecting the racism of the past especially because of who this upzoning benefits and who it harms. <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><font size=\"4\"><b>Recent FOIA\u2019s were submitted to ascertain communications between Nadeau\u2019s office and the landowners who stand to benefit immensely by the changes (see attached).<\/b><\/font><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcracialequity.org\/reia-database\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Council Office on Racial Equity (CORE)<\/b><\/a> recently evaluated the Mayor&#39;s changes to the DC Comprehensive Plan and concluded the proposed changes to the Plan will &#8220;exacerbate racial inequities&#8221; in the city.
