Artist Opportunities with Upcoming Deadlines in May and June 2019
Every month, Creative Capital compiles a list of residencies, grant applications, and award opportunities as part of our commitment to sharing resources for artists working in all creative disciplines. This month’s opportunities include a residency on the coast of Ireland, and a grant for nonprofit arts spaces in the Bay Area.
Arts writers writing about contemporary visual art are welcome to apply to the Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant by May 20. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000, these grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences in four categories: blogs, articles, short-form writing, and books.

For their annual residency MASS invites two artists to develop work and programs for the Austin community during one month in the summer. Artists are supported with gallery space and a $500 honorarium.

McColl Center for Art + Innovation Artist Residency Charlotte, North Carolina Deadline: May 15, 2019
Regional and local artists are welcome to apply for McColl’s annual Innovation Artist Residency. The program comes with $6,000 living allowance, a $2,000 materials stipend, one bedroom, and much more.

Center for Book Arts Exhibition Proposals New York, New York Deadline: May 15, 2019
The Center for Book Arts invites curators and artists to submit exhibition proposals for their main gallery space. A selected proposal will receive a $3,000 honorarium, as well as a budget for programming and artists.

Sirius Arts Centre Residency Cork, Ireland Deadline: May 17, 2019
This residency is designed to offer artists the opportunity to make work, write, research and develop their practices and to engage in dialogue with Sirius Arts Centre, other organizations in Cork and the surrounding community. Artists stay in an apartment along the Irish southwestern coast near Cork, and will have access to work areas.

Abrons Arts Center AIRspace Residency New York, New York Deadline: May 22, 2019
Visual artists are eligible to apply to this nine-month program, which comes with semi-private studio space, studio visits, access to the gallery, a $1,000 stipend, and more.

Follow Focus Short Documentary Grant Deadline: May 31, 2019
This is a new grant for a short documentary film entering post-production. The selected finalist will receive $10,000 for to finish a cinematic documentary film and the opportunity to screen at Camden International Film Festival.

The Open Spaces Program is intended to support nonprofits to partner with artists to create temporary, place-based public art projects in the Bay Area, CA. Grants range from $50,000 to $200,000.

Printed Matter Emerging Publication Series Open Call New York, New York Deadline: May 31, 2019
The Emerging Publication Series supports early career artists in the New York City area who are looking to realize an artist book project. Artists will be published under Printed Matter’s imprint, with all production and design expenses paid for, and will receive a fee of $1,500 and 5% of the edition.

Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellowship Acra, New York Deadline: May 31, 2019
This fellowship is a nine-month, part-time engagement for an American radio artist with strong interests in the history of radio art and related practices to develop new work. The program supports artists with a $15,000 stipend.

Latino Public Broadcasting Funding Cycle Deadline: June 3, 2019
The Latino Public Broadcasting Funding Cycle is now accepting applications for two funding initiatives, the Public Media Content Fund and the Current Issues Fund. This is an open invitation to independent producers to submit between $40,000 and $100,000, exploring a range of topics on any subject that relates to or is representative of Latino Americans.

Headlands Center for the Arts Sausalito, California Deadline: June 7, 2019
International, national, and local artists are welcome to apply to Headlands Center for the Arts’ residency based in Marin County. The program is four to ten weeks, and comes with studio space, chef-prepared meals, comfortable housing, and travel and living stipends.

Sharhaj Art Foundation Publishing Grant Deadline: June 8, 2019
Sharjah Art Foundation invites artists, writers, collectives and independent publishing houses working with art publications and printed matter to apply for the FOCAL POINT Publishing Grant worth a total of $30,000. The award will provide support for individual book and print projects and/or independent set-ups that demonstrate a long-term plan for publishing books and other printed matter.

Prairie Ronde Artist Residency Vicksburg, Michigan Deadline: June 15, 2019
Located in historic Vicksburg, the site of a former paper mill and its 80 acres of property, the Prairie Ronde residency encourages artists to engage in community-building as they hone their practice. The program supports artists with a $2,000 stipend, a $500 travel grant, housing and work space, and private use of a car.

Access Arts/School of Service Residency Columbia, MO Deadline: rolling basis
Artists will receive studio space and accommodations in exchange for 10-15 hours of service to the Columbia community in the form of education, outreach, and maintenance. Some materials are provided, and residencies can range from three months to one year.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant Deadline: rolling basis
Do you have an unanticipated opportunity to present your work? Did you incur an unexpected expense that you didn’t budget for? The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. They review applications once a month, so you can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve any budget errors.
