What: Rally  Against the DDOT 17th St., NW, Bike Plan
           Greeting of Councilmember Brooke Pinto

 

When: Friday, Oct. 1, 3:30-5 pm

Where: Safeway, 17th & Corcoran Streets, NW

 
 

On Friday October 1, DECAA & the Coalition will rally, ‘Dangerous by Design,’ against the 17th Street Bike Plan imposed by the District Department of Transportation (DDOT).  Featuring: A wheelchair-bound resident will show how hazardous it is to alight from an automobile on 17th St. under current Plan, which is not ADA compliant.

The rally will greet Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto during her walking tour and brief her on the need for a comprehensive review of the bike plan and Vision Zero.  
 
Invited speakers include: Dean Hunter (Shaw), William Jordan (Columbia Heights}, Commissioner Kevin Rogers (ANC 6E07), Paul Wittrock (Glover Park), Latiesha Boyd (Ivy City), and Sharice Crawford (at-large member of the Democratic State Committee).
 
DECAA and the Coalition rally to save a livable/walkable business and residential community; demand a comprehensive review of a broken bike plan, meaningful community engagement of DDOT’s Vision Zero program and find a safe, alternate bike route.
